- Implemented a comprehensive approach resulting in reading proficiency gains in the District across all grade levels Pre-K-5
- Increased the Progress Component, which measures the academic performance of students compared to expected growth on ELA Ohio's State Tests
- Exceeded one year's growth on the state-approved iReady assessment for students in K-3 including: all students, African American students, English Language Learners, and Hispanic students
Advocacy for Equitable Outcomes for Vulnerable Students
- Created a comprehensive MTSS structure for English Language Learners that led to increases in academic growth and progress on the Ohio State report card for Columbus City Schools
- Exceeded state targets for vulnerable populations including: English Language Learners, Hispanic students, and Economically Disadvantaged students
Grant Acquisition and Research Opportunities
- Obtained external grants exceeding $10M for innovative programming including early childhood initiatives and literacy
- Secured internal grants exceeding $60M for innovative programming initiatives that increased academic performance during the school year and over the summer (2 to 8% increases in literacy over the summer)
- Divisions and schools were researched by The Ohio State University, Capital University, Ohio University, and The University of Chicago

This chart compares the relative impact of key strategies on closing achievement gaps from two separate studies. Both research projects confirm that high-quality teaching and culturally responsive practices show the strongest correlation with improved student outcomes.
